One of the more remote camps in Kenya, Kitich Forest Camp offers guided foot safaris in complete privacy through this unique wilderness and interaction with the Samburu tribe’s people. The camp is set in a scenic forest glade on the upper slopes of the Mathews Mountain Range and takes just 12 guests at a time.
The forest walks at Kitich Forest Camp are led by resident Samburu guides who share their extensive knowledge of the incredible natural environment.
Abundant bird and butterfly species can be seen as well as rare cycads, orchids and many types of hardwood trees.
Along the way you can take a refreshing dip in clear mountain streams. You’ll have the forest all to yourself here! Guided forest walks are led by experienced Samburu guides and accompanied by a professional guide on a Kenya wildlife safari.
At night around the camp fire, the forest glade is lit up so you can watch wildlife drink and hunt along the edge of the Ngeng River. You could spot Forest Elephants, Buffalo and Leopards amongst the Bushbuck at the water’s edge.
Other creatures that can be seen in this mountain wilderness include Lion, endangered Wild Dog, Greater Kudu, the rare De Brazza Monkey and Colobus Monkey, Waterbuck and even giant Forest Hog. There are at least 350 recorded bird species and over 150 butterfly species in this region.
