Stay in one of 8 uniquely decorated spacious open-air Kizingo Eco Lodge beach bandas above the Lamu Island sand dunes overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean.
Each of the 8 bandas celebrates a vital aspect of life and culture on the island and has its unique charm and personality.
Four of the bands, namely Mangroves, Corals, Sunset and Tides have lovely wood-latticed coral brick floors and are constructed at ground or dune level. Stairs will lead you up to the Dunes, Deep Sea, Night Sky and Sunrise bandas.
Everything has been considered at this Lamu Island accommodation, from cosy hangout areas decorated with regional fabrics and artwork to outstanding eco-friendly items.
Kizingo Eco Lodge lives up to its name and leaves minimal environmental impact, including the usage of solar electricity, no bottled water because the tap water is safe to drink, organic products, and bamboo toothbrushes to honour the lodge's commitment to eliminating plastic.
Mangrove, coconut, and palm wood are used in traditional thatched-roof buildings. Shutters and doors are hung from the Wakindu Tree while floating beds and wall coverings are made of woven palm and coconut leaves. Local art is shown throughout, and locally manufactured furniture is produced on-site.
