Loldia House is well placed on Lake Naivasha for visiting prime Great Rift Valley attractions nearby including Lake Nakuru and Bogoria, Hells Gate, Crater Lake, Mount Longonot and Crescent Island. Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley Lakes and a wonderful destination in itself.
Lake Naivasha is fringed by papyrus and home to a variety of African animals. Buffalo, Waterbuck, Eland and Bushbuck can often be seen at the water’s edge. At night, the nocturnal creatures appear such as Bat eared Fox, Hyena, Jackal, Leopard, Mongoose and Aardvark. Hippos usually amble onto the lawns at Loldia House in the evening to graze.
Birdlife around Lake Naivasha is plentiful. The resident Ornithologist at Loldia House takes you out on foot and by boat in search of great sightings. Birds you could spot include Pelicans, Cormorants, Kingfishers, Herons, Jacanas, Goliath Herons, Fish Eagles, Saddle-billed Storks and Starlings to name a few.
At least 400 bird species have been recorded in the Rift Valley including great sightings in Hells Gate National Park. Lake Nakuru National Park is wonderful for Flamingo and Rhino sightings but you could also see Leopard and Lion amongst other wildlife.
