Sabuk Lodge is located on the Laikipia Plateau in northern central Kenya. It rests on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River and has views over the Laikipia Plains all the way to Mount Kenya, the Karisa Hills and the Matthews Mountain Range. The region has many conservancy areas and is home to the largest concentration of wildlife outside the National Reserves.
As it lies at a high altitude and is close to the Equator, the Laikipia Plateau enjoys a temperate climate year round. The mornings and nights can be cool but the days are usually warm. The rains fall in May, and over November and into December. Due to the sandy soil, travel in the rainy season remains unimpeded by the inclement weather.
The easiest way to get to Sabuk Lodge is by air. There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Loisaba Airstrip. Guests can also catch a private charter from anywhere into the Loisaba Airstrip. By road, Sabuk lodge is a 6 hour drive from Nairobi.
