The Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is situated overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River in the volcanic landscape of the Shaba National Reserve. This is one of the major sources of water in the semi desert of northern Kenya. Its name means “Dark River” due to its perpetually muddy waters. Natural springs create streams that flow through the gardens that surround the lodge. There are many shady indigenous trees, a free-form swimming pool and tranquil fish pond.
The Sarova Shaba Lodge is situated 314 kilometers (195 miles) from Kenya’s capital Nairobi. The journey takes about 5 hours following the curving roads around Mount Kenya and crossing the equator at Nanyuki.
Guests staying at the Sarova Shaba Lodge during their Kenya safari holiday can fly in on a scheduled or privately chartered flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to a bush airstrip at Shaba or Samburu.
