The Masai Mara forms part of a vast savannah ecosystem that is linked with the famed plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania. The region is home to the greatest populations of plains game such as Wildebeest, Zebra and Thomsons gazelles, as well as other wildlife such as Giraffe, Buffalo and Elephants. It is also home to the greatest number of predators such as Lion, Hyena and Cheetah in Africa.
The Serengeti and the Masai Mara are the stage for one of the greatest natural events on Earth, the annual migration of millions of Wildebeest, Zebra and Gazelles in search of fresh grazing and water. In their annual cycle they travel over 3000 kilometers and many die due to sickness, predation or while attempting treacherous river crossings where some of the largest Crocodiles in Africa lurk.
The Ol Kiombo Airstrip is situated a 25 minute drive from the camp. There are several scheduled flights to the Masai Mara from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, Nanyuki and Samburu every day. Privately charted flights from anywhere can land at the Ol Kiombo Airstrip.
