Karen Blixen Camp is a Masai Mara lodge that offers accommodation in 22 elegant tented suites which are managed in an eco-friendly manner. Each suite has a spacious deck has a daybed arrayed with comfortable cushions – the perfect place to relax and watch to see what wildlife comes to drink at the Mara River or have an afternoon siesta.
One of the most elegant of the Masai Mara camps, each suite is furnished with comfortable beds, either a double or in a twin configuration. They have plush Persian rugs and armchairs. The en-suite bathrooms have twin hand basins, a toilet and an open air shower. Water heating and electricity is provided by solar panels. Light is provided at night from a battery pack.
This Maasai Mara Camp has one family tent which consists of two tents which have a shared veranda. Other tents can be configured to have a third or fourth bed for children below the age of 12 years of age by prior arrangement. The Camp’s central area consists of a reception area and an elegant restaurant which is open sided and has views across the Mara River, and a pool which is home to a pod of Hippos whose antics provide hours of amusement for guests. The comfortable lounge and Bar area contain furniture that are reproductions of Karen Blixen’s original furniture, creating the impression that you have stepped back in time to the bygone era of the great safari.
The rustic style bar is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner drink before savouring a delicious meal. Meals at the camp are inspired by Karen’s own recipes. Karen was a keen eclectic cook. Each meal at the camp offers a wide choice of dishes including beef or lamb and vegetarian dishes.
