Wildlife is at its peak during the migration in Masai Mara Kenya but there is plentiful and diverse resident game even in the low season. Rekero Camp is open from June to March every year to take advantage of the best the season has to offer. The stars of the Disney movie African Cats could well be seen on game drives as Rekero was the base camp for the film makers.
The Masai Mara Game Reserve and neighbouring conservation areas, together cover an astounding 750 square miles (almost 2 000 square km). This region is at the northern end of an amazing eco-system while the Serengeti is at the southern end. At least a million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebra migrate between these areas annually in search of good grazing brought on by the rains.
The quickest way to access Rekero Camp is on a fly-in safari. Ol Kiombo is the closest airstrip and there are scheduled flights on a daily basis. From Ol Kiombo it is a 20 minute transfer by safari vehicle to Rekero Camp.
